About the Role

We are seeking a Field Applications Specialist (FAS) (m/f/d) to support our Single-Use Technologies Division. In this field-based role, you will act as a trusted advisor to our customers, delivering expert consultation, hands-on technical support, and product training across our single-use technology portfolio, including:

  • Fluid Transfer Assemblies
  • BioProcess Containers
  • Single-Use Bioreactors and Fermenters
  • Controllers and Mixer Systems
  • Additional bioprocessing technologies

You’ll partner closely with Sales, R&D, Product Management, and Operations to ensure our customers receive the highest level of support and value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical consultation across the full single-use portfolio.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to process workflows, software, or instrumentation, coordinating with internal teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • Promote our technologies and value proposition through technical presentations and onsite visits.
  • Support the Sales team by delivering product demos, technical seminars, and solution-based selling strategies.
  • Collaborate with customers to find opportunities for process optimization using Thermo Fisher technologies.
  • Ensure customer specifications (URS) are translated accurately for the operations team.
  • Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at industry conferences and trade shows.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor technologies and market dynamics; share relevant insights internally.
  • Provide ongoing product feedback to R&D and Product Management to support innovation and improvement.
  • Stay current on industry trends, applications, and technical developments; identify personal and team training needs.
  • Share knowledge and standard methodologies within the wider FAS team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Sc. or higher in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Single-Use Technologies (SUT) and BioProcess Containers
  • Understanding of upstream processing is essential; downstream experience is advantageous
  • Familiarity with the biotech, biopharmaceutical, and vaccine industries (human and animal)
  • Understanding of cGMP regulations and other quality standards
  • Excellent communication, project management, and presentation skills
  • Strong teammate with high self-motivation and independence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project); quick to learn new systems
  • Proficiency in German required; other languages a plus
  • Willingness to travel 40–60% within territory; some international travel required
  • Home-office-based when not traveling
