Pratt & Whitney's Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) organization is looking for a dynamic, collaborative, and results-oriented Principal Controls & Diagnostic Systems Engineer to join the Engine System Software department. This key technical role requires a demonstrated ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, high-pressure engineering environment while effectively communicating across multidisciplinary teams.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and/or lead support software tool development in a DevSecOps pipeline.
  • Participate in and/or lead process improvements.
  • Perform trade studies and analyze solutions.
  • Develop and/or lead software requirements and designs within the Agile Framework; Perform and/or lead software verification within the Agile Framework; Participate in and/or lead Agile ceremonies; Participate in software planning, estimating, and tracking per Agile framework; and Potential to serve as Agile Scrum Master, Product Owner, Product Manager, and/or part of the Development Team.
  • Work effectively in a multidisciplinary/multi-project team environment focused on developing and supporting mission-critical embedded systems.
  • Travel up to 5%.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering and 8 years of prior relevant engineering experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 years of prior relevant engineering experience. Relevant experience:
  • Delivering DevSecOps or automation solutions, and experience in at least one scripting or embedded code language.
  • U.S. Citizen - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance at the Secret Level is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Prior experience developing software in an Agile framework.
  • Prior safety-critical software development experience.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as DO178C.
  • Familiarity with jet engine control and diagnostic system architectures and control logic design.
  • MATLAB/Simulink experience.
  • Model-based system or software engineering experience.
  • Experience working in cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Department/Segment Overview:

  • The Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) organization is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military and commercial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development and support, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, product software design, verification & validation and engine and flight test support.

What is my role type?

In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work. We’ve introduced role types to help you understand how you will operate in our blended work environment. This role is:

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
