The Department of Biological Sciences in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor of Biology to start in September 2025. This is a standard twelve-month faculty appointment.
We seek candidates whose teaching experience encompasses large non-majors biology courses like Principles of Biology and Biological Principles and associated laboratory sections. The position requires coordinating Principles of Biology laboratory sections in the spring, summer and fall semesters and delivering online Biological Principles lecture and laboratory in the Fall. This position will require developing and implementing new methods of teaching to reflect changes in the field, providing curriculum material, constructing syllabi, leading classroom instruction, writing and administering exams, mentoring and evaluating students and graduate teaching assistants that oversee laboratory sections, creating interest and understanding among students, and a small service appointment that can include serving on various faculty- and student-oriented committees, providing service on campus and in related professional organizations, and/or participating in faculty governance in the department and on campus. For a one-year appointment position with the potential for annual reappointment to be considered, the candidate should provide evidence of high quality teaching effectiveness. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

The Department of Biological Sciences includes 34 tenured or tenure-track faculty and 12 non-tenure track members conducting research and teaching in the areas of evolutionary biology, ecology, genetics, genomics, development, cell biology, and microbiology.
