As a member of the SDA MS&A team with MTSI, you will support SDA’s Warfighter Integration Cell as they conduct tabletop exercises and wargames and evaluate the capability of the PWSA to meet warfighter needs. You will model and analyze performance in multiple domains, including optical and RF communications, satellite propagation and attitude, and missile warning, missile tracking, and missile detection. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the integrated PWSA model in AFSIM and for training others to use this model. You will serve as the primary MS&A contact point between SDA and other organizations. Occasional travel will be required.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

  • PWSA Analysis & Support:
    • Utilize the PWSA model to support tabletop exercises and wargames conducted by INDOPACOM,
    • Interface with SWAC on the capabilities of the PWSA.
    • Conduct detailed analysis of PWSA outputs to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in operational context.
    • Develop and present briefings and reports summarizing analysis findings and recommendations.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders and participate in event planning meetings to understand their requirements and tailor PWSA analysis to their specific needs.
    • Provide technical support and training to users of the PWSA model.
  • PWSA Model Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to enhance the accuracy, fidelity, and usability of the PWSA model.
    • Develop and implement model improvements, working with model developers and subject matter experts.
    • Conduct validation and verification activities to ensure the quality of model enhancements.
    • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in space systems technology and incorporate relevant updates into the PWSA model.
  • Architecture, CONOPS, and Use Case Development:
    • Develop architecture diagrams and documentation illustrating the integration of the PWSA into existing DoD systems and operational plans.
    • Create CONOPS (Concepts of Operations) documents outlining how the PWSA can be effectively used to support various operational scenarios.
    • Develop detailed use cases demonstrating the practical application of the PWSA in specific contexts.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that architecture, CONOPS, and use cases are aligned with their needs and requirements.
  • Modeling & Simulation Expertise:
    • Apply expertise in modeling and simulation techniques to analyze complex space systems and scenarios.
    • Utilize AFSIM (Air Force Simulation Model) extensively for modeling and analysis purposes.
    • Develop and maintain simulation scripts and models.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to modeling and simulation activities.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with a diverse team of analysts, engineers, and subject matter experts.
    • Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Participate in meetings, conferences, and workshops to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in modeling and simulation, with a focus on space systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with AFSIM (Air Force Simulation Model)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of space systems, including satellite orbits, communications, and sensors
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred/Desired Experience:

  • Experience developing architecture, CONOPS, and use case documents is preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in the DoD or Intelligence Community
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Mission Planning
    • Optical communications links
    • Ka band communications payloads
    • Tactical data links including IBS and Link 16
    • IR sensor processing algorithms and sensor hardware
    • Mesh networking

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineer, systems engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field from an accredited university (REQUIRED)
  • Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineer, systems engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field from an accredited university (DESIRED)

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active SECRET clearance with the ability to receive a TOP SECRET with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI)
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Location/Travel Requirements:

  • This position may require travel up to 15% of time within and outside the continental United States.
