Company Overview:

Access to clean water is critical to sustain life. For over 160 years, Mueller has been providing critical water infrastructure products that support populations globally. Aging infrastructure, resource scarcity, population growth and growing environmental sustainability efforts provide an opportunity to change the world and make an impact that matters.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and highly engaged Technical Project Manager to lead key IT initiatives that drive operational excellence and digital transformation in a manufacturing environment. This role requires a deep level of involvement in project execution, with a focus on delivering results that align with business and production priorities. You will work across departments—engineering, operations, supply chain, and IT—to ensure projects are executed effectively, on time, and with lasting impact. Please note this role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities:

The Technical Project Manager will manage a range of strategic IT projects with a focus on systems that support production, plant operations, maintenance, quality, and logistics. This includes implementations, upgrades, and process optimization initiatives involving technologies such as MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ERP, IoT platforms, and data integration.

  • Responsibilities include:
  • Lead end-to-end execution of IT strategic projects supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Engage deeply in planning, requirement gathering, technical solutioning, and implementation oversight.
  • Partner with plant leadership, operations managers, engineers, and IT to align project goals with production needs.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration, ensuring seamless coordination between operations, IT, and external vendors.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable plans, and manage execution against defined KPIs.
  • Oversee project documentation, schedules, risk management, and reporting.
  • Support system testing, deployment planning, and training for users across facilities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate discussions around system enhancements, equipment integration, and process digitization.
  • Prepare and manage detailed documentation including business cases, process maps, system specifications, and training materials.
  • Promote adoption of project and change management best practices across project teams.
  • Continuously identify improvement opportunities in systems and workflows to support operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing IT or OT projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with manufacturing systems such as MES, ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle), SCADA, and plant automation platforms.
  • Understanding of system integration between IT and OT environments.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet).

Certifications (Preferred):

  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent certification.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other operations-focused credentials are a plus.
  • Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master) helpful but not required.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, especially in high-urgency, plant-based settings.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution.

Other:

  • Familiarity with IT/OT convergence, industrial cybersecurity, and data governance in regulated manufacturing settings.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to manufacturing sites as needed to support project delivery.
