The Facilities Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining all aspects of our data centers and supporting all ancillary systems for the data center. They will plan and implement the cage and rack space design to maximize available data center space and enhance production efficiencies. The Facilities Manager will work directly with facilities team members, vendors, contractors, and senior management to consistently meet the highest industry standards for availability, security, and efficiency. Extensive experience with various facility concepts, practices, and procedures is essential. The employee will be a member of the DC Operations team and will report directly to the Vice President of Data Center Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the functioning of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, and security.
  • Manage the maintenance of buildings and grounds. Oversee contractors for facility expansion projects, including cooling, electrical systems, security, and production floor arrangement.
  • Lead and mentor staff members in setting goals and objectives for the facilities group to meet organizational targets.
  • Work with project managers and systems engineers to facilitate new network or client service installations.
  • Estimate and track costs related to building expansion, including equipment and materials, labor, etc., and monitor the construction process.
  • Recommend production/processing equipment for purchase based on their ability to meet organizational needs.
  • Conduct and document quality audit facility inspections to ensure we align with our certifications.
  • Reviews and recommends changes to current best practices to maintain availability/uptime of all 24/7 facilities' mission-critical operations and infrastructure.
  • Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are met.
  • Reviews Facilities change controls submitted by the team to ensure complete and accurate MOPs are inserted in all change control activity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in facilities engineering or 10-15 years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex project documents, including AutoCAD, Visio, and PDF documents.
  • Extensive experience with installing cable ladder infrastructure, racks, and private cage suites.
  • Comprehensive experience with day-to-day standard maintenance activities in data center/telecom environments.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with electrical systems, including generators, automatic transfer switches, UPSs, Floor PDUs, Rack PDUs, Switchgear, and Breaker distribution panels.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with data center cooling systems and airflow management techniques, including raised floor and non-raised floor environments.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize activities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
