We are dedicated to providing our community with quality programs for our youth community TK/K through 5th grade. Our programs provide a supportive and enriching environment designed to help youth thrive! The City of Fairfield has been selected by Fairfield-Suisun School District as one of the contract service providers to lead after school programs at Sullivan Academy, Fairview Elementary and Anna Kyle Elementary. We have also been contracted for services with Travis Unified School District at Center Elementary. These programs are offered through the California Department of Education, Extended Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP). PLEASE NOTE: • APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED WEEKLY. • INTERVIEWS WILL BE CONDUCTED WEEKLY ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS FROM 9:00 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. AND 2:00 P.M. - 3:30 P.M., AS WELL AS A MANDATORY TRAINING DATE ON AUGUST 8, 2025. This position is represented by Fairfield Part-Time Employees’ Association (FPTEA), is part-time, non-benefited, and will work approximately 1,200 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30), subject to program needs and contract renewal. Candidates must be available to work a varied schedule to meet program needs, which may include holidays. ELOP programs operate during the regular school year and for extended hours during school breaks and summer sessions. ELOP programs close annually for approximately 30 days, between July 1 and August 1, resulting in an unpaid break in service for part-time employees assigned to the program.

The Recreation Program Aide will provide program assistance in various department programs and service areas including, but not limited to, recreational programs, activities, and events serving senior citizens, adults, teens, youth, and/or early childhood participants in a variety of social activities, education, health and fitness programs, prevention programs, classes, special events, and city-wide volunteer programs.

The Recreation Program Assistant will provide onsite program support organizing, leading, promoting, and participating in various department programs and service areas including, but not limited to, recreational programs, activities, and events serving senior citizens, adults, teens, youth, and/or early childhood participants in a variety of social activities, education, health and fitness programs, prevention programs, classes, special events, and city-wide volunteer programs.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. • 48 college units or a para-educator certificate. A 5% incentive will be added to the flat hourly rate for holding the above listed requirements, totaling $19.16/hour for Recreation Program Aides and $20.48/hour for Recreation Program Assistants. NOTE: you must include proof of unit completion or certification to your application.
