CNC Mill Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist capable of performing tasks requiring high levels of cognitive function and judgment. You should be able to respond promptly to operating conditions and work effectively in an unfatigued state, while maintaining concentration and adapting to sudden changes or emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Follow verbal machine operation instructions from department lead, assess drawings and manufacturing planning for machining requirements, carefully load parts into machines, operate the machine’s control panel, unload parts, deburr parts, and arrange parts in boxes or on pallets, sometimes running two machines at once.
• Monitor features and dimensions on each component run and deburr finished parts.
• Support supervisors in the running of production parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, deburring, and inspecting quality parts for conformance to requirements.
• Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, tool setups, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
• Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust the machine, within capabilities, controls, or control media as required to ensure quality production. Report all machine malfunctions to Lead.
• Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
• Adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company Quality Program and procedures, Company policies, and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• ITAR Documents
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a vertical machine operator.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience of CNC programming with vertical & horizontal mills, 4th axis machining & positioners, & Fanuc & Okuma controllers.
• Experience with different types of equipment, inspection tooling, speeds/feeds, and tooling.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Use of personal tools, including lockable toolbox, dead blow, Allen wrenches, calipers, tape-measure, dial and/or travel indicator is a plus.
• MasterCam programming experience.
• Sheetmetal experience - shop is 95% sheet metal machining.
• Experience with Haas, Fanuc programming.

Work Environment

The job operates in a manufacturing plant and professional office environment. This role may use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. In the manufacturing environment, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, excessive heat, cold, wet, bright light, and slippery conditions. The noise level in the manufacturing plant can be very loud, and ear protection is provided.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sumner, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr.
