Job Description

The Manager of Quality leads the strategic direction, execution, and continuous improvement for North American-wide Quality, Environmental, and Security Management Systems. This role drives operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction through robust systems, risk-based thinking, and data-driven decision-making. The position is instrumental in integrating quality into every aspect of manufacturing, fostering a culture of accountability, and advancing the companies competitiveness in the market. This role requires a dynamic leader capable of influencing at all levels, building high[1]performance teams, and delivering measurable impact through innovation, standards compliance, and proactive improvement initiatives

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and lead the quality vision, strategy, and objectives across two North American manufacturing sites (Boston, MA and Toronto, ON).
  • Manage and develop team of in-process quality inspectors and quality engineers.
  • Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, to eliminate defects, reduce variation, and improve throughput.

Operational Quality & Performance

  • Lead problem-solving activities across sites using root cause analysis and structured methodologies (5-Whys, DMAIC, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of Key Quality Indicators (KQIs), including loss metrics, trend data, and process health.
  • Develop executive dashboards and risk-based insights to senior leadership on business system performance and compliance posture.

Customer & Supplier Engagement

  • Drive proactive customer quality engagement through design for manufacturability reviews, risk mitigation, and requirements alignment.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain team to monitor and improve supplier quality, supporting vendor audits, qualification, and development programs.

System Governance & Compliance

  • Design, implement, and maintain companies integrated management systems (QMS/EMS/SPMS) ensuring full compliance with ISO and Intergraf standards.
  • Oversee internal and external audit programs, regulatory compliance efforts, and customer notification protocols.
  • Serve as primary liaison for compliance reporting, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and process validation activities.

Engineering & New Product Introduction

  • Partner with Engineering and Product Development teams to integrate quality standards into design and prototype processes.
  • Support new product launches by developing inspection criteria, test plans, and control documentation.

Team Development & Culture

  • Build and mentor a high-performing quality team across multiple functions and sites.
  • Promote a company-wide culture of quality, safety, and environmental responsibility through training, communication, and recognition.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing), Industrial Technology, or related technical field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance, including 5+ years in a leadership role in manufacturing (plastics, printing, or related industries preferred).
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Manager (CQM) required. Six Sigma Black Belt certification strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of compliance frameworks such as PCI, CQM, and SWA.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), quality engineering, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong digital fluency with quality management software, analytics tools, and ERP systems.
  • Experience with quality systems integration, internal auditing, and regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrated success leading ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or Intergraf (ISO 14298) certified systems.
