Automation Test Engineer 2

Purpose

The Automation Test Engineer role focuses on creating and implementing automated testing solutions to streamline and optimize software testing processes. By developing robust frameworks and leveraging automation tools, the engineer aims to enhance efficiency, minimize manual efforts, and ensure comprehensive test coverage.

Key Activities

  • understand the benefits of testing in delivering quality code
  • can execute a manual test case
  • able to document a bug or defect that I find during testing
  • can work independently if given a list of tasks to complete
  • can use Browser Developer Tool to check DOM elements, verify services, use a console
  • can use libraries to create automation test scripts (eg. Playwright, Selenium)
  • can create XPath or CSS selectors to find Web Elements
  • understand the product and can setup system configuration.
  • able to use available tools to investigate and fix systems issues
  • can create, debug, and execute code.
  • proficiency in using coding standards (OOP, SOLID etc.)
  • can use and do small modifications in CI/CD pipelines
  • can analyze, split, and organize tests to be easily automated
  • understand how to build and organize test data and structure tests to be repeatable
  • can build reliable tests that give a consistent result
  • mentor and improve the skills of more junior members of the team
  • Providing mentorship to junior automation testers by sharing best coding practices

Required Skills & Experience

  • Has solid communication skills and attention to details.
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Ability to create and execute manual test cases and create bugs and defects
  • Understanding how to use the Browser Developer Tools
  • Ability to create automation tests scripts using testing frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Playwright)
  • Communicates clearly, active listener. Participates in clarifying requirements and tasks with positive impact on the project.
  • Ability to work and learn independently
  • Good understanding of all phases of Software Development Lifecycle, including system analysis, design, coding, test automation framework, debugging and documentation
  • Has knowledge of ISTQB Foundation Level and knows how to use it in practice
  • Smoothly operates on QA tools
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C#)
  • Understanding of CI/CD processes
  • Experience with Source Code Management tools like Git
  • Proficiency in finding Web Elements using XPath and CSS selectors
  • Plans, schedules, and monitors work to meet given objectives and processes to time and quality targets.
  • Interacts with and influences colleagues and contributes fully to the work of teams by appreciating how own role relates to other roles
