Software Engineer, ebay Cloud Security

Description:

Join ebay’s cutting-edge Cloud Security team, dedicated to building and managing robust Identity Management (IDM) and Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions for our extensive Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure. Our team is at the forefront of securing cloud-native environments, ensuring that only authorized entities can access our critical resources. We are increasingly leveraging the power of Artificial Intelligence to enhance our security posture, automate complex processes, and build next-generation access control systems. This role will be pivotal in designing, developing, and deploying innovative security solutions that integrate advanced AI technologies.

Role:

Design, develop, and implement scalable and secure IDM/IAM solutions for Kubernetes environments, incorporating AI-driven capabilities.

Brainstorm and prototype new ideas leveraging AI agents, and advanced tool integration frameworks to accelerate development, improve code quality, and assist in triaging and resolving issues. Including implementing new features, comprehensive unit tests and end-to-end tests, and managing their rollout to production.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including platform engineering, application developers, and global security teams to define and enforce security policies.

Identify and address security vulnerabilities, performance bottlenecks, and enhance existing components of our IDM/IAM platform.

Support internal customers by addressing their access-related issues and guiding them in using our security platforms and tools effectively.

Stay abreast of the latest advancements in cloud security, Kubernetes, IAM, and AI technologies, and champion their adoption where beneficial.

Qualifications:

Major in Computer Science or related fields.

2+ years of experience working as a software development engineer, with a focus on security.

Strong understanding and hands-on experience with cloud security principles and technologies, including but not limited to: SSO (SAML, OIDC), OAuth2.0, RBAC, PKI, certificate management, and secrets management, particularly within Kubernetes and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).

Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals, architecture, and security best practices (e.g., Pod Security Policies, Network Policies, Admission Controllers).

Demonstrable experience in developing or integrating AI-based solutions. Familiarity with leading-edge AI technologies such as AI agents, MCP, model fine-tuning.

Proven enthusiasm and practical experience using various AI coding and problem-solving tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, or similar generative AI tools).

Solid knowledge of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and microservices architectures.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong English communication skills, both written and oral.
