The Senior Assistant Director will support the Deputy Director (Admin) for the development and implementation of operational strategies to ensure efficient and effective implementation and management of service-learning projects.
The incumbent will support the Deputy Director (Admin) to translate the University’s aspirations and goals into a set of strategic initiatives and support the implementation of these initiatives within the University.
This role involves establishing and maintaining partnerships with external organizations to provide meaningful service-learning opportunities for undergraduate students as part of their graduation requirements.
This role will also work with the NTU Honours College in the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the College’s core components—namely the Tech-for-Good Service Learning Course.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Implementation
- Assist the Deputy Director (Admin) to develop and implement strategic plans for the Care, Serve, Learn (CSL) office to align with NTU’s educational goals and objectives.
- Assist the Deputy Director (Admin) in the design, development, and execution of service-learning projects and programs to meet students’ graduation requirements on a timely basis.
- Development and delivery of the Tech-for-Good Service-Learning Course
- Work with NTU Honours College’s Deputy Director in the integration and coordination of core and elective components of the NTU Honours College programme, in collaboration with the Talent Development Team and relevant internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless delivery and student experience.
- Ensure all programmes align with the NTU Honours College’s mission to cultivate a culture of innovation, leadership, and service amongst the students.
- Partnership Development
- Identify and establish partnerships with external organizations, including national agencies, community partners, and social service agencies.
- Negotiate and formalize agreements with partner organizations to ensure mutually beneficial collaborations.
- Operational Management
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the CSL office, including administrative tasks, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Ensure the smooth coordination and running of service-learning projects, including scheduling, logistics, and coordination with students’ schools and partnering organizations.
- Ensure the accurate, complete and timely compilation, processing and finalization students’ marks on their completion of service-learning projects,and addressing students’ queries and requests for review and/or appeal of service-learning course results.
- Ensure continuous improvement of CSL operations in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, and service-learning courses in terms of instructors’ and students’ learning experience and outcomes.
- Student Engagement and Support
- Oversee the recruitment, training, support, and completion of students participating in service-learning projects.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and assistance to students, fostering their personal and professional development through service-learning experiences.
- Support the investigation and/or disciplinary actions required for students’ academic integrity offences and misconduct in service-learning projects.
- Quality Assurance and Evaluation
- Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of service-learning projects.
- Monitor and report on the progress and outcomes of service-learning initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Community Engagement and Advocacy
- Promote the value and impact of service-learning within the NTU community and beyond.
- Advocate for service-learning as a key component of NTU’s educational mission and engage stakeholders in supporting service-learning initiatives.
- Design and execute strategic communications and outreach plans to enhance visibility and impact of the College’s core programmes, particularly service learning.
- Professional Development
- Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in service-learning and community engagement.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
Requirements
- Master’s or Degree in a relevant field such as education, social work, or public administration.
- Should have about 8 years of experience in a similar or managerial capacity
- Extensive experience in managing service-learning or community engagement programs.
- Proven track record of successful partnership development and management.
- Experience in higher education administration is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the principles and practices of service-learning.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
