Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Description

As an Engineering Technician, you will be integral to the operation of test benches within our R&D engineering lab. You will engage in testing and troubleshooting of test apparatus, connect products to benches, and perform maintenance tasks such as replacing pumps and seals. Your role will include conducting various tests, including structural, integrity, end-of-life, and efficiency tests. You will also oversee the mechanical upkeep and calibration of testing equipment, participate in the development of new technologies, and collaborate with test requestors and lab managers to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of testing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialized testing in lab and field settings, often without written procedures.
  • Operate and maintain test equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Fabricate components and assemblies for hydraulic, diesel engine, and alternative power products.
  • Build prototypes and retrofit vehicles with our products and data acquisition systems.
  • Troubleshoot test bench circuits, field equipment systems, and components.
  • Adapt procedures, processes, and equipment to meet complex test requirements.
  • Oversee equipment calibration and advanced test bench maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Effectively communicate technical information to team members.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical testing expertise and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and software literacy.
  • Experience with Labview, troubleshooting, and testing in an engineering context.
  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing, hydraulics, and hydraulic assembly.
  • Ability to operate and maintain test equipment and adhere to test standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 10+ years of relevant experience in a technician or mechanic role.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of test equipment and test standards.
  • Technical experience in fluid handling, filtration, or diesel engines.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office and Windows-based software.
  • Understanding of data logging equipment, dosing systems, and injector characterization stations.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
  • Self-starter with problem-solving abilities and a commitment to work responsibilities.

Work Environment

The position requires working on the bench, primarily during the 2nd shift, with training on the 1st shift for the initial months. The potential exists to move to the 1st shift after a year, but the position is likely to remain on the 2nd shift for the foreseeable future. 1st shift hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3 PM, while 2nd shift hours are Monday to Thursday, 2 to 10:30 PM, and Friday, 10 AM to 6:30 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
