Job Title: CNC Programmer

Job Description

The CNC Programmer will be responsible for machining on mill, lathe, or mill turn machines to manufacture parts for the aerospace and defense industry. This role requires precision and expertise to ensure high-quality production.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
  • Develop and review setup sheets and specifications to determine setup procedures, machining sequences, and dimensions of finished work pieces.
  • Attach fixtures to machines, position and secure work pieces in fixtures according to setup instructions.
  • Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine spindles or insert cutting tools in specified machine magazines.
  • Download part programs from Machine Shop program storage computer to machine controls based on production schedules.
  • Manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tools to specified set points and start machines.
  • Observe and listen to machine operations to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
  • Suggest program and machining and fixture changes to improve quality and production requirements.
  • Change cutting tools and location of work pieces during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
  • Measure work pieces for conformance to specifications and inform supervisors or lead persons of discrepancies.
  • Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machines malfunction.
  • Machine materials other than metal such as composites and plastic.
  • Feed or remove metal, plastic, or other stock and material from machines.
  • Deburr and clean parts as required.
  • Clean machines, tooling, and parts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with Lathe, Mill, CNC Machining, CNC Setup, CNC Program Editing, CNC Mill Turn
  • Proficiency with Haas, Mazak, Mastercam, Okuma
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical data
  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with machining materials other than metal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills

Work Environment

The role operates within a machine shop environment that can be loud at times but is kept clean and organized. You will be working a 1st shift from 6:30 am to 4 pm, following a 4/10 schedule. The culture encourages working independently while being ready to assist with other projects when needed. The team consists of 12 to 15 machinists, and the dress code requires jeans and steel-toed boots.

This is a Permanent position based out of Oxnard, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
