Parsons School of Construction Environments at The New School University is seeking applications from academics, creative practitioners, and interior design industry professionals with an interest in teaching within AAS, BFA, and MFA Interior Design programs:

Studio Hourly Rate: $127.50/contact hr

Seminar Hourly Rate: $151/contact hr

Work Mode: On-Campus & Synchronous Online

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design (B.I.Arch, M.I.Arch, or PhD), Architecture (M.Arch, or PhD), Art and Design (MFA, MS, or PhD), or closely related field (MFA, MS, or PhD).
  • 5 of more years experience of professional industry practice is preferred.
  • 1-3 years University-level teaching experience or equivalent industry experience.
  • U.S. Work Authorization .
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative teaching environment.
  • Documented evidence of professional and/or creative work to support topic areas.
  • Creative practice, professional experience, and/or research directly related to the field of Interior Design.
  • Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCIDQ certification.
  • Educational and/or professional work/practice that centers inclusion and advances equity and social justice in the built environment.
  • Prior experience teaching in higher education.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development using innovative teaching methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate emerging technologies, including immersive environments, interactive design, artificial intelligence, and robotics, into design courses.
  • Evidence of leadership experience, including collaboration in team settings and overseeing teams.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent terminal degree in Interior Design, Exhibition Design, Set Design, or a closely related field.
  • Proficient in industry related softwares including Creative Suites, AutoCAD, Rhino, and/or Revit.
