We are currently seeking a Data Warehouse Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Enterprise Data Platforms team. This role involves close collaboration with IT teams, end users, developers, management, and infrastructure departments to support and optimize our data warehouse environments.

The Technology Reliability Engineering and Operations (TREO) organization is a critical part of our IT division, supporting both internal and external customers. TREO reports to the Chief Technology Officer and delivers services such as hosting, security operations, application support, business intelligence infrastructure, collaboration tools, and end-user support. Our team spans 15+ states and three countries, blending full-time employees and contingent workers. We focus on operational excellence and continuous modernization.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain database system software, ensuring robust security and performance.
  • Monitor and analyze database performance to ensure optimal utilization and availability.
  • Maintain database dictionaries, support tools, and accurate system documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of strategic, architectural, and tactical plans for database and data warehouse environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship on database systems and tools.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to improve database performance and reliability.
  • Implement business continuity and disaster recovery solutions, including replication and backup strategies.
  • Establish and enforce database standards and best practices.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Greenplum administration experience, including performance tuning and optimization of complex SQL queries for large data sets.
  • Hands-on experience with Greenplum tools, including: MADlib, PXF, GPCC, gpfdist, gpload, gpbackup, gprestore, gpdr backup, and gpdr restore.
  • Strong SQL development skills and experience with data warehousing environments.
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting, Python, and working in UNIX/Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools such as IBM DataStage or similar.
  • Automation-minded with a focus on streamlining database operations.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
  • Exposure to containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Databricks and Spark-based data processing.
