Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing tasks as described and assigned by department Supervisor.
  • Responsible for working in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring product specifications are attained.
  • Performs job assignment in a cost conscious manner.
  • Strives to satisfy the requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for being at workstation on time each workday.
  • Participates in the Total Quality Management (TQM) process.
  • Must have strong desire to accept responsibility, show initiative and be a team player.
  • Must be able to communicate with Supervision, Quality Assurance and USDA personnel.
  • Ability to be flexible as to various job assignments and working conditions.
  • Responsible for following GMP’s, SOP’s , HACCP procedures, plant rules and policies.
  • Must be able to work in temperatures 80° to 90° F, as well as temperatures 20° to 30° F.
  • Should be knowledgeable of all jobs in the department, as well as, comfortably operate all equipment.
  • Must be able to push wheeled trees on rails weighing up to 2800 lbs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Be willing to train new employees assigned to the department.
  • Must be able to read and write English, as well as, perform mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to navigate software.
  • Must have the ability to produce error free operational documentation.
  • One (1) to three (3) years experience as smoker preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to perform other job functions as needed.
