Job Title: QA Supervisor

Job Description

The QA Supervisor will report to the Food Safety and Quality Manager and lead the team in the QA Lab, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and laws. This role is crucial for the implementation and continuous improvement of quality programs within the facility, and for providing coverage in the absence of the FSQM.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees in the QA Lab, including interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work while appraising performance and managing rewards and disciplinary actions.
  • Implement various components of the quality assurance program, including data analysis, systems evaluation, product assessment, and quality technology.
  • Direct inspections of hardware and systems audits to ensure proper application of management system procedures.
  • Conduct raw material, in-process, and finished goods quality inspections.
  • Communicate effectively in Spanish, both written and orally.
  • Direct and advise personnel in special test procedures to analyze components and physical properties of product materials.
  • Compile and analyze test information to determine operating efficiency and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Investigate complaints on existing products and respond to vendors or customers.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet testing schedules.
  • Train the lab group on safety topics, quality procedures, and monthly business updates.
  • Participate and support corporate and plant initiatives including GMP, HACCP, SQF, GQMS, KMM, LIMS, and others as assigned.
  • Facilitate and participate in customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.

Essential Skills

  • Background in food science, chemistry, biology, microbiology, sensory, food packaging systems, and/or food engineering.
  • 3-7 years' practical experience in Food Safety, Quality Management, Production, or Project Management in the food industry.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and affect change through indirect leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with food quality systems including SQF, HACCP, GMPs, and other related prerequisites.
  • HACCP certification.
  • Experience writing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict management skills.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance specific to food manufacturing, particularly with chocolate products.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
