Description
Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Tech Lead – Integration Services to guide the design and delivery of enterprise-grade integration solutions as part of our global data strategy. This role is a key leadership position, responsible for overseeing the implementation of scalable APIs, modernizing legacy integrations, and mentoring a high-performing technical team.
As a hands-on leader, you will partner with cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions, establish development best practices, and ensure delivery of robust, secure, and reusable integration solutions across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance throughout the integration lifecycle – including architecture, design, development, deployment, and support.
- Lead and mentor a team of developers, ensuring high code quality, productivity, and skill growth.
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure integration designs.
- Design and implement APIs using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (RAML, Anypoint Studio, DataWeave, MUnit), aligned with enterprise standards.
- Establish best practices in CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and operational support for integrations.
- Partner with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to drive integration strategy and alignment with enterprise architecture.
- Promote reusability, modularity, and resilience in integration components and patterns.
- Own risk identification and resolution for integration initiatives.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance on performance optimization and security.
- Support production systems, SLAs, and incident resolution, including after-hours support if required.
- Lead the design and delivery of event-driven architectures using Kafka or Confluent for high-throughput, scalable data integrations.
Experience:
- 8 years of experience in enterprise integration development and delivery.
- 3 years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
- Deep expertise with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including building APIs, custom connectors, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong background in integration protocols and standards (REST, SOAP, WSDL, JSON, XML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
- Hands-on experience with Java (J2SE/J2EE) or Python.
- Proficiency in database technologies (SQL, Oracle PL/SQL).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub).
- Experience with messaging technologies (Kafka, SQS, Pub/Sub, IBM MQ, RabbitMQ).
- Exposure to microservices and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver enterprise integration solutions.
- Experience architecting secure, scalable APIs and integration platforms.
- Knowledge of ERP and CRM systems integration.
- API Gateway experience (e.g., Apigee, MuleSoft API Gateway, AWS API Gateway).
