Job Purpose:
The Business Analyst I is a resource that collects and develops requirements in support of an overall IT strategy. The Business Analyst I understands, analyzes and documents business problems and can translate business requirements into technical solutions. They will be hands-on working with requestors and the development team.
Essential Functions:
Manage incoming application development requests and perform incident management oversight
- Develop and maintain a fundamental understanding of Cincinnati Bell business processes supported by IT supported applications
- Develop and maintain a fundamental understanding of the technologies utilized to support Cincinnati Bell applications
- Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to help analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
- Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates
- Document processes and guidelines for internal and external consumption
- Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
Liaise, communicate and facilitate process adherence
- Proactively communicate with external and internal customers
- Support and institutionalize best practice methodologies as it relates to IT applications (change control/user acceptance testing/training/implementation methodologies)
- Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow
- Serve as liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams
Critical thinking
- Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts
- Conduct periodic site reviews and internal testing as well as daily review and analysis of site metrics
- Decompose high-level information into details, summarize low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
Education:
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
General Work Experience:
0 to 3 years work experience
Previous Work Experience:
- Preferred experience in Business/Service Analysis in professional and/or educational enviroment
- Preferred experience gathering requirements for projects, upgrades, ehhancements, or new development
- Preferred experience of process mapping, with the ability to bring together diverse groups and opinions to document coherent solutions
- Preferred knowledge of process/data/functional modeling techniques and an undertsanding of the use of structured techniques
- Preferred working from and developing scenarios and user requirements
