Job Title: Structures Technician

Job Description

The Structures Technician will perform heavy depot-level structural maintenance, repairs, and modifications on T-38 aircraft, focusing on upgrades to aircraft skin and bulkheads.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and assess structural damage; develop repair procedures using technical data
  • Install and remove close-tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major structures
  • Design and perform structural repairs and corrosion treatments to maintain integrity
  • Conduct post-repair weight, balance, and control surface rigging
  • Inspect repairs for compliance with specifications and technical publications
  • Fabricate replacement parts using jigs, fixtures, and metalworking tools

Pay Structure

Level III $33.16 Base Pay $4.93 Fringe Per Diem: $72.00 a day (if qualifies) – total comp = $47 an hour

Level II $31.28 Base Pay $4.93 Fringe Per Diem: $72.00 a day (if qualifies) – total comp = $45.21 an hour

Essential Skills

  • Experience in airframe and aircraft sheet metal.
  • Proficiency in aircraft maintenance and structural mechanics.
  • Expertise in sheet metal repair and fabrication.
  • Experience with aircraft modification, structures, heavy depot-level repairs or modifications.
  • Knowledge of skin repairs, patches, changes, and bulkheads.
  • Experience in depot level, aircraft skin repair, corrosion control, MRO, bulkhead, stringer, and doubler.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Structural Tech Level III: 8 - 12 years of experience in depot level or MRO level structural repairs or modifications, with at least 7-8 years at depot or MRO level. Fighter jet experience preferred but not required.
  • Structures Mech Level II: 5 - 8 years of experience in depot level or MRO level structural repairs or modifications, with at least 5 years at depot or MRO level. Fighter jet experience preferred but not required.
  • Air Force Specialty Code 2A753 / 2A773 is a nice-to-have but not required.

Why Work Here?

The position offers sick pay, 11 paid holidays, and 2 weeks of PTO after one year of service. There is potential for a 3% - 5% raise annually based on performance. The opportunity is long-term, with a contract-to-hire model offering a five-year base and two option years. The pay is competitive for the Birmingham area, and no tools are required.

Work Environment

The work environment is an aircraft hangar with a day shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 0630 - 1530.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.21 - $47.09/hr.
