Job Title: Machine Operator | $20+HR

Job Description

Assist with the setup and operation of tandem rolling mill machinery, including installation and adjustment of rolls, threading up, performing first piece inspections, welding, and general clean-up. Utilize precision measurement instruments and perform basic shop math calculations. Set up and operate wire machine with minimal supervision, ensuring quality of products through necessary changes in operating conditions. Conduct tests and measurements to ensure products meet required specifications. Maintain accurate product data and records, and address machine malfunctions promptly to ensure production continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate tandem rolling mill machinery.
  • Install and adjust rolls, and perform first piece inspection.
  • Utilize precision measurement instruments for quality assurance.
  • Perform basic shop math calculations.
  • Set up and operate wire machine with minimal supervision.
  • Change over equipment to ensure product quality.
  • Conduct tests and measurements to assure product specifications are met.
  • Maintain accurate product data and records.
  • Address machine malfunctions immediately to ensure production continuity.
  • Inspect products continuously during operations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Assist in other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6+ months of heavy manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read measurements using tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Mechanical inclination and machine operation background.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs throughout the shift.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to perform all tasks with a safety mindset.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferably 6 months of machine operation experience.
  • Forklift operation experience is a plus.

Work Environment

This position is in a heavy manufacturing environment, which can be labor-intensive and dirty. The facility is not temperature controlled, being hot in summer and cold in winter, especially in areas with induction furnaces. Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are mandatory. Available shifts include 1st (8am-4pm), 2nd (4pm-12am), and 3rd (12am-8am), along with A, B, C, and D shifts with varying hours.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.70 - $22.07/hr.
