Function Summary:

The Engineering Project Manager supports the implementation of all aspects of engineering activities and projects within an organization. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization’s established policies and objectives. The Project Manager applies best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. He/she will incorporate components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. This role requires a profound understanding of new and relevant technologies for the purpose of realizing efficiency. Ensures the optimal application of engineering methods to meet product development and consumer requirements.

Additionally, the Project Manager supports the tracking and execution of overall engineering scope, schedule and budget. The Project Manager has a functional coordination with the bakery technical managers and project engineers and defines the activities to achieve the functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and complies with the budgets/policies/procedures to support the operational business model.

The Project Manager creates and maintains positive relationships with the internal and external stakeholders of the business to establish a consumer-focused culture.

Dimensions:

  • Tasked with the planning, management, execution, and implementation of new product or equipment projects that require capital investment, inclusive of any ongoing existing projects to include scope management, issues and risk management, as well as regular status reporting.
  • Participates on plan definition and helps to achieve the business's technical vision that guides all aspects of technological development in coordination with the technical services area.
  • The role of the Project Manager uses a highly collaborative approach. Works closely with company managers, vendors, and customers as required in all products strategic planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Plan, execute, and monitor capital investment projects, ensuring delivery within established timelines, budget, and quality standards.
  • Team Management: Foster a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Strategy Development: Collaborate with the leadership team to develop capital investment strategies aligned with the company's business objectives.
  • Resource and Budget Management: Effectively manage financial and human resources allocated to projects, ensuring the optimization of capital investments.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with projects, ensuring corrective actions are taken when necessary.
  • Communication and Interdepartmental Relations: Collaborate with other teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Methodology Development: Play a pivotal role in the development and structuring of a robust project management methodology, customized to meet the specific needs of Sara Lee Frozen Bakery. Continuously refine and optimize project management processes to enhance efficiency.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Strong experience (More than 5 years) in leading and managing capital investment projects, preferably in the food or manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in project management systems and project management software.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to make strategic decisions and adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work in a high paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus.
