About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated project manager to lead our department-wide Language Access services project at the King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO). This role directly impacts our community by developing and implementing a Language Access Program (LAP), ensuring effective communication and access to KCSO services for everyone we serve.
Duration: This is a benefits-eligible position, and is expected to last approximately 18 months, through 2026.
WORK LOCATION: While primarily based at the King County Courthouse in Seattle, or designated King County work location, flexibility is needed as per project requirements.
WORK SCHEDULE: Expect a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend events.
Teleworking Requirement: The work associated with this position may be performed through a combination of telework and onsite. You will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. You must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance of your King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. You will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where you can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.

Job Duties
What You'll Be Doing:
In this role, you will play a pivotal role in serving our diverse communities. Here is a snapshot of what you will tackle:
- Lead and shape our Language Access Program (LAP): You will be at the helm, driving the development and rollout of this crucial initiative to ensure everyone in our community has equal access to the services we provide. You’ll collaborate with the Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division to ensure fulfillment of the KCSO/DOJ agreement.
- Understand and address community needs: Delve into the heart of our community. Identify what languages they speak, services they need most, and tailor our program to address the needs.
- Craft and execute project plans: Your strategic vision will guide the ongoing evolution of the project to delivery. You'll design the approach, conduct research, and define how we measure success.
- Policy and training development: Collaborate in setting the standard for how we offer language services by forming robust policies. Plus, you will provide and develop ongoing language resource training for employees.
- Monitoring and evaluation: Keep a close eye on how well our program is performing. Analyze data, report on progress, and tweak the program as needed to ensure its meeting our community's needs.
- Community outreach: Forge strong connections with community partners to expand our program's reach and impact. Plus, manage feedback and complaints to ensure everyone feels heard, valued, and acknowledged.
- Team leadership: Guide and support the team tackling this multi-faceted program. You will also develop a worksite liaison program across various KCSO locations.
- Be our voice: Represent our program to the public and in discussions with community groups, handling sensitive inquiries, and fostering positive relations.

What We're Looking For:

- A good understanding of legal requirements regarding language access is desired.
