What You Will Do

The Associate Laboratory Directorate, Plutonium Infrastructure (ALDPI), at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) manages the execution of major capital projects related to infrastructure required to meet plutonium pit production deliverables. Reporting to the Project/Program Director for the ALDPI Security Escort program, you will be part of a key team of leaders ensuring that work is enabled across the ALDPI and other portfolios through proper security escort supervision. Daily duties of this position include:

  • Technical contributions to logistics and strategic planning for the security escort program. This includes the practical application of Laboratory policies and procedures, including security, PF-4 work, Conduct of Operations, safe work practices, ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable), and others as required.
  • Direct customer interactions to accept requests and communicate staffing and related information, including any changes or prioritization impacts.
  • Complex scheduling and schedule oversight to include sufficient job coverage of a large, diverse job portfolio where assignments can be dynamic over a single shift.
  • Human Reliability Program supervisor role over assigned subcontractor staff.
  • Timecard and billing supervision and approval for assigned subcontractor staff.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams of technical and non-technical personnel in a compliance driven environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience performing compliant work in adherence to facility requirements specific to the discipline, including physical security, conduct of operations, and/or integrated work management.
  • Experience maintaining knowledge and understanding of assigned facility requirements, training, and operations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with controlled unclassified information.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, acquiring, prioritizing, and managing resources in support of organizational deliverables, scope and schedule.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in managing business operations to include financial, human resources, procurement and/or other related business activities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills on matters of functional areas and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Customer service and issue resolution experience.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active DOE "Q" Clearance
  • HRP Certification
  • Experience supervising the execution of LANL physical security requirements and implementation, particularly practical experience with the requirements of TA-55 PF-4, and proper charging practices
  • Nuclear construction or other capital projects related experience
  • Working knowledge of P6, or other scheduling concepts, as they apply to work on the floor.
  • Floor supervision and shift assignment experience

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Work Schedule: This position may require 24/7 coverage, which could involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
