This position is responsible for the set up and operation of thermoplastic extrusion equipment that compounds, packages, and conveys pelletized customer products.

Work Schedule: 2nd Shift Production schedule is 1:45 PM to 10:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, start, and operate machinery to extrude, discharge, or handle materials according to operating procedures while ensuring strands of material are continuous; ensure all controls adhere to operating/safety procedures and ISO/IATF quality standards.
  • Monitor production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and processing issues.
  • Examine material visually and physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
  • Package finished materials in customer containers or convey material to other areas for packaging/shipping.
  • Refer issues/problems to Production Lead for disposition.
  • Thoroughly perform all required machine cleaning.
  • Complete and maintain all required system inputs/transactions. Responsible for data integrity.
  • Document work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
  • Participate in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work processes, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Operate/monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality production.
  • Lift 50 lbs. regularly and stand for an 8-hour shift.
  • Read and follow manuals, instructions, and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workspace.
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.
  • Possess a positive attitude.
  • Work overtime as needed, up to every other weekend.
  • Work in temperature extremes--hot and cold.
  • Pass an online forklift driving course and a driving test for certification.
  • Read, write, and speak English.

Education and Experience

  • Preferred high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred forklift experience.
  • Preferred previous manufacturing experience.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Regularly

  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Talk and hear to coordinate and operate equipment.
  • Work in noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protection.
  • Use safety equipment as dictated by the work (safety glasses, safety shoes, respirator dust masks, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)
  • Obey all safety rules regarding moving mechanical parts.

Frequently

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in temperature extremes such as hot, wet and/or humid conditions, and environments with dust, fumes, airborne particles, etc.

Occasionally

  • Sit.
  • Handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 250 lbs.

Other

  • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
