The National Institute of Education (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) invite suitable applications for the position full-time 100% Research Assistant on a one-year contract (with possibilities of extension) at the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC).

Project Title: Cerebrovascular Health, Adult Learning, Resilience and Mechanisms: CHARM Study

Project Information: As part of CHARM study, we will develop learning pedagogy for middle aged adults based on the principles of neuropsychological pedagogy and life-style interventions. Two learning packages will be designed with each package comprising a pre-course, course, and post-course components. The course components will include lectures, group-activities, and homework. The content will be developed by our team, in close collaboration with adult learners, through interviews and focus group sessions comprising learners of various age groups and occupational-types.

Requirements

  • Academic qualification:

Bachelor degree in Education and/or Psychology and/or Neuroscience or similar areas

  • Work experience:
    • Prior experience conducting systematic literature reviews
    • Prior experience designing and developing learning materials
    • Prior experience teaching at any educational level
    • Prior experience designing and administering instruments to evaluate learning goals
    • Prior experience designing interview protocols
    • Prior experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis
    • Prior experience disseminating research findings targeting the general public and academic audiences
  • Desirable interests, skills, and attributes:
    • Passion for teaching and learning
    • Interest in effective learning in Higher Education settings
    • Prior experience in inquiry-based pedagogy
    • Have good communication and organizational skills
    • Have good interpersonal skills
    • Be a good team-player, proactive, and able to work independently and with a large group of researchers

Responsibilities

  • To conduct systematic literature reviews (summarizing, coding, and organizing relevant literature).
  • To design and develop learning materials for the program including topics such as general characteristics of the nervous system and core aspects of brain development and brain anatomy.
  • To support the delivery of the program.
  • To design and administer instruments to evaluate the program learning goals by assessing pre-and post- knowledge concerning brain and cognitive development, for example.
  • To design semi-structured interview protocols and conduct qualitative analysis (summarizing, coding, and organizing relevant literature).
  • To compute different statistical analyses for the findings obtained in the systematic literature reviews and semi-structured interviews.
  • To contribute to research translation and dissemination of findings targeting the general public and academic audiences.
  • To perform other tasks as required by the Principal Investigators.
