Job Summary

The Distributed Commerce Strategy & Operations Manager will play a crucial role in identifying, evaluating, and executing new commerce opportunities in emerging digital channels beyond Sephora.com. This role will support the Director in shaping Sephora's strategy and presence in areas such as AI-driven shopping, augmented reality, in-game shopping, social commerce, and other emergent shopping/shopping adjacent platforms. The Manager will be responsible for conducting market research, analyzing trends, developing business cases, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to launch and scale new initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Market Research & Trend Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth research on emerging digital commerce channels, including AI-powered shopping assistants, social commerce platforms and other relevant spaces.
  • Monitor and analyze competitor activity, consumer behavior, and technological advancements in these areas.
  • Identify key trends and insights to inform Sephora's distributed commerce strategy.

Opportunity Evaluation & Business Case Development

  • Evaluate potential distributed commerce opportunities based on market research, strategic alignment, and potential ROI.
  • Develop detailed business cases, including market sizing, revenue projections, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
  • Present findings and recommendations to the Director and other stakeholders.
  • Translate Director’s vision into actionable roadmap.

Project Management & Execution:

  • Support the Director in managing and executing distributed commerce initiatives, from initial concept to launch and ongoing optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, tech, creative) to ensure seamless execution.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Monitor project progress and identify/resolve any issues.

Partnership Management

  • Assist in identifying and evaluating potential partners in the distributed commerce space.
  • Support the Director in managing relationships with key partners.
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure successful partner integrations.

Reporting & Communication

  • Develop regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for distributed commerce initiatives.
  • Communicate project status, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Prepare presentations and other materials to support the Director's communication efforts.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in eCommerce, Digital, Consumer tech, Management consultant, or Strategy
  • Proven track record of translating consumer and industry trends into strategic opportunities and executing those strategies. This includes experience in defining opportunity areas, developing cohesive strategies, and coordinating efforts across functional areas to bring the vision to fruition
  • Strong understanding of emerging digital commerce channels and trends.
  • Experience conducting market research and developing business cases.
  • Fluency in understanding technical integrations and translating requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Project management experience, with a proven ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Demonstrated understanding of how AI tools can be applied to everyday tasks and workflows, such as:
    • AI-powered search and information retrieval.
    • AI-driven personalization and recommendation engines.
    • AI-powered communication tools (e.g., chatbots, virtual assistants).
    • AI-based productivity tools.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts and terminology (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing) and an ability to identify potential applications of AI to augment our channels, improve business processes and customer experiences.

  • Ability to work in a hybrid (in office + remote) environment and in a quiet, uninterrupted, dedicated space
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, nights or weekends as business needs dictate
  • Ability to engage in limited travel as needed (less than 10%)

The annual base salary range for this position is $114,750.00 - $128,250.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
