The Maintenance Supervisor will be working in our Front Royal, VA wafer & cracker plant (located 80 minutes from downtown Washington D.C). This state of the art facility is nearly 400k sq. ft., operates with 6 highly automated production lines and possess a strong team oriented culture.
Core Hours/Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 10:00pm-7:00am
Position scope:
We are seeking a high potential leader that is seeking growth into a Manager opportunity in the foreseeable future. This role will supervise Leads and Mechanics in their daily activities. Ensure all Foreman and Mechanics follow GMP’s, Safety, Food Safety, Operational and Company guideline/policies. Ensure all maintenance employees are productive, completing assignments, and adhering to procedures and completing required documentation. Maintain daily checks and effective communication among shifts. The maintenance teams work Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday to provide 24/7 support for the plant.
Core Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track work orders and PM’s on lines and equipment to maintain maximum efficiency. Manage work assignments and hold staff accountable for these assignments and resulting equipment performance. Ensure documentation for all necessary facility and equipment maintenance is completed on shift.
- Give timely feedback, coaching and mentoring to team members to help maintain or improve expected performance.
- Effectively and compassionately supervise and develop employees on a continual basis.
- Proactively supervises plant maintenance staff.
- Resolve any employee issues and document disciplinary actions and superior performance recognition for all employees in a timely manner.
- Provide and promote a strong teamwork environment.
- Maintain a positive and constructive work environment within the department as well as with other departments and promote teamwork.
- Provide and facilitate appropriate consequence management for under-performing team members.
- Ensure all team members remove parts from inventory in accordance with inventory management system and procedures.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and possess good troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrate proficient computer skills.
- Communicate across departments and shifts to determine condition of operations and priorities.
- Enforce all safety rules, good manufacturing practices within the department, continually monitor and supervise forepersons and mechanics.
- Provide suggestions to improve processes, procedures and department in support of bakery goals. Identify potential cost savings and cost avoidance.
- Provide a comprehensive shift handoff to oncoming shift and the maintenance management team, both orally and in writing, on a daily basis at the end of each shift. The communication needs to include the issues that occurred during the shift, the current status and expected timeline to return to production, if the tool is still down and a look forward of what to expect as known.
- Write corrective work orders as needed, when equipment repairs are identified. Follow-up on items to ensure corrective work orders are generated when it is not suitable to correct immediately.
- Foster and support a zero mindset for frontline maintenance teams in regard to team member safety risk, quality and food safety risk, and waste.
- Additional duties, as assigned.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or GED is required, and additional education is an asset.
- 5 or more years of maintenance leadership experience in manufacturing environment is needed. Experience from food/beverage high-speed manufacturing environment is ideal.
- Safety focused and working closely with the site EHS Manager.
- Strong electrical and mechanical experience needed.
- A hands-on maintenance position, so a willingness to work alongside the team.
- Communication skills, written and verbal, and customer focused.
- Ability to be on feet all day and perform walking, stooping, and bending functions as required.
- Good troubleshooting skills.
- Strong people leadership skill set. Willingness to coach and mentor the team, along with accountability for the work assigned.
- Proactive mindset and bringing solutions and ideas forward.
- Ability to utilize EAM (Equipment Asset Management) software system.
- Solid work ethic, trustworthy, and ability to maintain confidential information.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Position requires the ability to stand on one’s feet for up to 8 hours (with breaks), walk, use hands to handle, feel and select objects (manual dexterity), grip, frequently reach with hands and arms, bend, twist, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Position requires the ability to occasionally:
- Work in high temperature areas.
- Work at heights more than 2’ from the ground
- Work around very strong magnetics
