The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $114,332.80 to $142,916.00.

Job Summary

The Training Technical Project Manager is responsible for managing the overall implementation of technical and innovation projects in alignment with rate case filings for all operating companies. Projects can be funded by both the business or training funded projects. The role manages various programs and projects and provides relationship management on behalf of the AVANGRID Training group with objectives of providing technical, innovative and immersive solutions to meet the requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner. Overall Budget responsibility for projects delivery is circa $70M Capex over 10 years across all operating companies and disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership on various programs and projects. Management includes development of scope, creation of project team, management of project team (Matrix style) across business and training areas, Solution design creation, Solution Sign off, project design execution, Operational handover and close out.
  • Interfaces with Global counterparts to review solution design and facilitate best practice process considerations in solution design with option for partnership on projects.
  • Leads cross-functional project teams. Holds regular program/project status meetings.
  • Is the lead team member with respect to accomplishing day-to-day goals and provides direction and leads decision-making. Holds project team members accountable for results.
  • Provides linkage to management for decision making outside of day-to-day program/project team activities.
  • Manages Vendor relationships, system integrators, contractors, and contingent workers on a project by project basis. Project team size for any single project can vary between 5-30 resources.
  • Determine project management delivery style based on methodologies available, the project requirements and the Vendor requirements. Required to adapt to new styles based on Vendor where applicable, train/coach vendor on AVANGRID process or manage working in an AGILE way where applicable.
  • Oversight and implementation of the technical work set for field workers on the workforce mobility platform
  • Participates in preparation of plans and budgets for programs and projects in alignment with rate case filings. Manages progress against plans and take corrective action to offset variances. Reports to management on progress status.
  • Responsible for meeting corporate objective for capital investment. Manages projects to approved scope, schedule, and budget. Budget owner for own project portfolio, required to deliver to target and report status to the Sr Director and Sr Manager monthly.
  • Provides accurate forecasting including rate-based additions to report to investment planning and control.
  • Provides relationship management for business areas.
  • Develops Key project dashboards for review with AVANGRID EHS VP monthly.

Required Qualifications

  • Education Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree required in IT, Business, Finance or a related field
  • Skills/Abilities:
    • Microsoft Suite advanced user.
    • Certification for Project/Program management (preferred).
    • Trained in Agile Methodology
    • At least 3 years of experience with various innovation projects
    • Management skills including staff development and budget
  • Experience/Training:
    • 3-5 years of Training work experience preferred, including project management experience.
    • Experience working in utility industry required with a basic understanding of electric and natural gas
    • Strong service delivery experience, preferably within Training.
    • Experience in leading projects and / or teams
    • Prior management supervisory, experience.
    • Knowledge of Training business and financial aspects.
