DUTIES: Wellmark Inc. seeks a Lead Integration Engineer based out of our office at 1331 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50309. This is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address.
Lead system development and engineering for highly complex programs. Coordinate the preparation, coding, testing, and debugging of complex programs; including the analysis and development of workflows that utilize emerging technology and meet and exceed Wellmark’s evolving business needs. Serve as subject matter expert in the implementation of innovative and cost-effective business solutions for multiple applications and systems utilizing information technology, business, and industry trends. Provide leadership, training, and guidance to others on the team in the gathering of information, necessary research needed for root cause analysis, problem definition and formulation, solution implementation, verification, and ongoing optimization. Ensure analysis of defects to find root cause and guide others in the identification of potential improvement opportunities. Mentor, guide and problem-solve with other technology areas in the development and implementation of solutions, including how to use new or enhanced software/applications. Coordinate with company resources to accomplish integration of products and processes and complex solutions. Provide timely and accurate results, and exceptional customer service. Utilize established relationships with Wellmark leaders and acts as a primary consultant on business status, issues, process improvements and technology enhancements or capabilities. Participate in project proposals, estimates and proof-of-concept activities as needed. Maintain awareness of industry’s best practices and standards and proactively participates in industry/knowledge reference groups relative to role. Provide direction for enterprise standards. Conduct code reviews and monitor standard adherence. Conducts high level systems analysis and implementation of high performing software solutions that are efficient and cost effective, and which support Wellmark’s business and Technology applications. Leads system development and guides the team in the design, development, code testing and debugging necessary to ensure successful completion - or resolution of issues while focusing on utilization of emerging technologies. Contributes to and drives adoption of best practices (development standards, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, etc.) across various platforms. Leads and supports a diverse development resourcing model which includes Wellmark staff, global onshore/offshore staffing, crowdsourcing, etc. Builds relationships with Wellmark leaders and acts as consultant on business process improvements and technology enhancements or capabilities. Provides soft coaching and mentoring to team members and manage deliverables across teams and technology platforms. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Applied Computer Science, or related field of study;
96 months of experience in job offered, in IT industry or related field;
Experience must include: 5 years of experience in the Insurance domain; 8 years of experience with data warehousing/ETL, implementing, troubleshooting, administering, and supporting complex solutions using a combination of the following technology platforms and tools: Informatica 10.x/9.x/8.x Informatica Power Center, ETL, Teradata, Sybase, DataStage, SAS, Ab Initio, Microsoft SQL Server, Unix Shell Scripting, GitHub, ETLMDR (Oracle), PowerDesigner, Erwin Data Modeling, and Customer Relationship Management software; experience building ETL solutions by conducting analysis, defining the architectural approach, creating data models, designing, analyzing data, creating source to target mapping documents, developing, and deploying ETL solutions; experience using various ETL mapping and transformation techniques such as: Joiner, Sorter, Aggregator, Expression, Router, Union, Filter, Lookup, Sequence Generator, Update Strategy, Rank, Mapplets, Workflow Variables; experience developing in cloud technologies leveraging AWS, Redshift and IICS; experience building and extending data marts and customer relationship management systems; experience creating relational and dimensional data models using standard data modeling tools and best practices; experience building and performing ongoing operational maintenance of a data warehouse; experience developing Unix Shell scripts to support scheduling and sequencing of ETL workflows; experience with Teradata utilities, such as Fast Load, Multiload, and TPT script; experience with reporting and data visualization; experience leading projects with on and offshore development teams; experience in software development lifecycle in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies; and experience gathering information, performing necessary research needed for root cause analysis, problem definition and formulation, recommending solution implementation, verification, and ongoing optimization, using data to support recommendations.
