Amazon is looking for a tenured Analyst in the Tax PCS (Product Classification Services) Operations team in Bratislava, Slovakia. The team as part of the Global Tax Calculation Services Program is comprised of tax professionals and software engineers that are responsible for providing end-to-end global transaction tax calculation solutions (sales and use taxes, value-added taxes, goods and services taxes, and other consumption taxes) to Amazon and thousands of other merchants selling on Amazon marketplaces and other e-commerce platforms.

This individual will have the opportunity to improve the customer experience by contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of the tax classification function. This can be achieved by a classification of unique products or via bulk assignment methods affecting thousands of products at the same time. The ideal candidate will be a highly analytical, detail-oriented individual with an advanced level in Excel, and basic knowledge of SQL and Python. This person will communicate effectively across teams, locations, and levels while combining advanced reporting with strong critical thinking and project management skills. Success in this role will significantly impact tax accuracy and contribute to the achievement of various team projects and initiatives.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and maintain configuration of Amazon's transaction tax calculation software with limited guidance
  • Research and implement transaction tax laws to create and optimize tax rules within the calculation software
  • Lead projects from design through delivery, making strategic trade-offs between time, quality, and resources
  • Drive team operational excellence initiatives and process improvements
  • Provide subject matter expertise on tax calculation software to internal and external teams
  • Develop and optimize reporting systems for enhanced decision-making
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of corporate experience in relevant domain
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
  • Intermediate SQL knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, customer-focused environments
  • Experience in managing multiple projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proven ability to influence across teams and negotiate priorities
  • Experience in creating and maintaining performance metrics

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in a product classification function
  • Proficiency at querying relational databases and ability to pull data from multiple sources
  • Advanced SQL proficiency
  • Python programming basics
  • Expertise in data visualization tools and techniques
