The Office of University Event’s (OUE) mission is to elevate the brand and reputation of the university by planning, coordinating and executing signature and university-wide events that engage our internal and external communities, positioning MSU Denver as a leader in the Denver Metro area and beyond.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Event Coordinator is responsible for supporting the overall Office of University Events mission and assisting with a variety of signature events – the largest of which are the Fall and Spring Commencement ceremonies. Other events include but are not limited to presidential speaker series, employee recognition events, campaign events, and pop-up 3rd party events.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Duties - 40%
Event Planning - 60%
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2-3 years in event coordination, specifically in an event venue or catering
High level of both administrative and interpersonal professionalism
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize
Solid written and oral communication skills.
Flexibility to work all signature events which may be outside of typical business hours
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite computer software
Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs. Stand for a length of time, assist with event set up and tear down
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in hospitality or higher education sector
Excellent organization skills and professional manner
Superior customer service skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
Salary for Announcement
Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $45,000-$58,240
This equates to an hourly range of approximately $21.63- $28.00.
This position is 0.5 FTE (Part Time), paid monthly, and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
At 20 hours per week, the part-time annual salary range is approximately $22,500- $29,120
