Position Overview

This Engineering Manager role is responsible for leading a team of professionals by setting direction, allocating resources, and ensuring operational standards are met. The position involves supervising two or more team members, guiding their performance, conducting reviews, and recommending compensation actions. The manager ensures compliance with procedures, provides input on planning and policy development, and supports departmental goals. While primarily focused on leadership and oversight, occasional hands-on involvement may be required to meet deadlines or resolve issues. Strong collaboration, judgment, and decision-making skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Set direction and deploy resources to accomplish team goals.
  • Directly supervise and lead a team of two or more professionals or contributors.
  • Define team operating standards and priorities.
  • Ensure adherence to procedures within area of functional responsibility.
  • Provide guidance and direction to junior employees.
  • Make decisions in line with established policies, procedures, and business plans.
  • Train, develop, and set performance objectives for employees.
  • Conduct performance reviews and recommend compensation actions.
  • Act as an advisor to the department; get involved when needed to meet deadlines or resolve issues.
  • Spend the majority of time managing rather than doing hands-on work.
  • Collaborate and persuade junior supervisors and peer teams; deliver presentations on projects or schedules.
  • Receive assignments as objectives with defined goals and processes.
  • Contribute to resource planning and policy development.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures, occasionally in situations without precedent.
  • Understand that poor decisions or missed results can delay work plans.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
  • At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience, including at least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
  • At least 4 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience, including at least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
  • At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience, including at least 1 year of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Microsoft Office experience preferred
  • Good understand of validation process
  • Good soft skills are a plus (interpersonal skills)
