Job Description

As a Software Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that provide Sage’s customers with timely, accurate, and actionable insights from their data.

You will take responsibility for design and trade-off decisions, coding standards, and overall consistency and quality of the final solution.

• This is a hybrid position - you will work 3 days a week from our Cluj-Napoca office. ***

Key Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

• Design and develop software applications using PHP and Java.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight, drive the overall process of development and delivery.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues, investigate root causes, and propose solutions.
• Work with QAs to ensure the quality of the features, including the creation and maintenance of test cases.

Skills, Know-How, and Experience:

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• A number of years experience in software development.
• Proficiency in either PHP or Java, SQL, GitHub. Capability to switch between PHP and Java based on needs.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a simple and clear manner.
• Proactivity to take ownership of work, track and report on progress.
• Comfortable starting with vague requirements, taking lead and driving work to completion.
• Working knowledge of Linux bash commands
• Strong problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with Oracle databases.
• Python is a big plus.
• Ability to contribute to architectural discussions and decisions.
