Vice President, External Communications (Level J)

We’re seeking a future team member for the role Vice President, External Communications. This role is based in New York City, NY.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Supporting corporate external communications across a range of activities and functions, including financial communications, litigation matters, regulatory/policy developments, and broader corporate initiatives of interest to external audiences, particularly the media.
  • Partnering closely with senior executives, marketing, government affairs/public policy, and other members of the Communications team to develop proactive, multi-channel communications rollouts that leverage storytelling.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with media and continuously building new relationships (across print/broadcast/online) including with business/financial media, trade, and national media.
  • Comfortably handling regular media inquiries in a professional, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Supporting internal communications as needed, including with select executive communications.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in communications, with a strong track record of delivering media outcomes and an established media network.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and capital markets.
  • Experience engaging with senior executives; navigating complex, global organizations; and fostering collaborative decision-making among senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent writer with an audience-first mindset.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle large-scale, complex projects with discipline and precision.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Outstanding judgment, proactive problem-solving ability, and resourcefulness.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to think outside of the box.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $81,000 and $138,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
