Your Impact

As a Senior Mobile Engineer, you will play a key role in building Axon’s Vehicle Intelligence capabilities, directly shaping and scaling the mobile experience that powers our real-time public safety response for our law enforcement agencies.

You will work with a team of talented software engineers, product managers and visual designers to create the mobile experience for our Vehicle Intelligence experiences. Your experience shipping mobile applications will allow you to rapidly innovate new and existing mobile applications and bring them to market. You will get the opportunity to build high quality applications using the latest mobile technologies available.

As part of our mobile team you’ll provide the team with guidance and direction to incorporate some of the latest Android and iOS technologies as we deploy our mobile apps to market. If you have experience working with video streaming, Bluetooth, Wifi, device peripherals and other iOT devices, then this is the role for you.

What You’ll Do

Location: Seattle WA, Boston MA (Hybrid)

Reports to: Engineering Manager

  • Lead the design and implementation of high-performance native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android).
  • Collaborate with the Axon UX team to create UI designs for mobile and turn these into working solutions
  • Work across the entire software life cycle for mobile from prototype through to commercialization and monitoring
  • Interface with cloud and firmware services
  • Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews
  • Mentor engineers
  • Work across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create integrated solutions that delight our customers
  • Own feature delivery from discovery to deployment, ensuring quality, performance, and usability
  • Build software that adheres to our high bar on stability and latency in this mission-critical space
  • Work with the latest open source technologies
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies.
  • Collaborate within the Scrum team to ensure we hit our sprint goals, collaborate with other groups to ensure we build and ship the “right” thing.

What You Bring

  • 6+ years of industry experience (Team leadership and mentoring a plus)
  • Strong in either iOS or Android and able to support critical fixes/issues for both platforms
  • Understand the ins and out of mobile phones; expected to lead mobile design reviews as well as the implementation of their designs to release and post-release monitoring
  • Experience working with video streaming and IoT devices / connectivity over BLE or Wifi
  • Understanding and experience with networking protocols such as TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, Websockets (debugging with Wireshark or Charles Proxy a plus)
  • iOS Experience that demonstrates learning & application of the latest native technology: Swift UI, Swift Package Manager, iOS 18 & WWDC releases
  • Experience with modern architecture (MVVM, MVI, etc) including and unit testing
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
  • SDKs: experience related to Bluetooth, WiFi, Networking, Camera (Photo/Video), Audio, File Management, connecting to and interacting with third party hardware

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 141,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 225,600 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
