Job Description

What you’ll do at OhioMHAS:

Under general supervision, the Custodial Worker provides environmental services to the units. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • In assigned areas (e.g., dining areas, rest rooms, offices, units) cleans & maintains (e.g., dusts, mops, sweeps, buffs & waxes floors, scrubs sinks, toilets, countertops, walls & ceilings, dusts & cleans furniture & equipment, empties trash, washes windows, polishes mirrors & glass, vacuums & shampoos carpet, replenishes soap, paper towels & toilet paper).
  • Performs grounds duties (e.g., removes snow &/or ice from walkways, removes litter from grounds, sweeps walkways, raises/lowers flag, reports any evidence of fire, illegal entry & theft of property).
  • Performs other related duties (e.g., stocks supply closets, replaces light bulbs, reports need for equipment repair, secures doors/windows, moves furniture, sort & wash linens/laundry); attends mandated trainings & staff meetings.

This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 2 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. This position is located within our Central Ohio Behavior Healthcare Campus at 2200 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223.

Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading & speaking common English vocabulary. In accordance with Section 124.11(B)(2), revised code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination.
