General:
Oversees the food safety of all products manufactured at 300-employee poultry processing facility. Works to ensure any food safety quality incidents are investigated and prevented. Promotes food safety and quality awareness and education for fellow employees. Responsible for exceeding customer requirements, maintaining regulatory compliance, staff training, and product processing quality improvements. The position reports to the quality manager w/ primary work schedule of M-F, day shift, with flexibility to work early shift, overtime, and weekends, as needed.
Specific Duties / Responsibilities:
- Ensure all products are being produced in a safe, compliant manner according to GMP’s, SSOP’s, HACCP, USDA and customer requirements.
- Provide input and helps enforce food safety, quality procedures and best practices
- Lead min. of 8 QA technicians in a poultry processing facility (live receiving thru shipping)
- Cover for QA Manager and technicians in their absence
- Deliver Food Safety and Quality training for plant personnel
- Audit work practices, digital data management, environment, and procedures for food safety risks / regulatory compliance
- Partner with operations to ensure quality inspection of existing and new equipment and processes
- Participate in food safety incident investigations and responses to SSOP and HACCP deviations and provides recommendations for solutions and improvements
- Use problem solving skills to improve the process and reduce /eliminate recurring issues
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
Requirements
Education:
- Associates degree in technical field (preferred / not required)
Experience:
- Min. of 2 years of work experience in quality role, supporting poultry processing operation
Skills/Abilities/Attributes::
- Leadership experience in an industrial environment (Poultry processing preferred)
- Working knowledge of USDA food safety regulations & quality systems
- Detailed-oriented; able to work in fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, solid interpersonal and presentation skills;
Physical Requirements:
- Work safely in hot, cold, wet environment e.g., 35-40 / 100 degrees
- Lift / move up to 40 lbs.; occasionally 50 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, stoop up to 10 hrs./shift
