As a Sr Software Dev Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of integrating AI into our design system, helping teams across Amazon Advertising accelerate their development while maintaining consistency and quality.

You'll work on building intelligent code generation capabilities that understand and implement UI design patterns, collaborate with AI teams to optimize model performance, and create tools that empower developers to focus on innovation rather than implementation details. Our team owns the UI design system component library and documentation, serving all of Amazon Advertising.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of UI development by combining the power of AI with enterprise-grade design systems. You'll work at the intersection of AI and user interface development, creating solutions that scale across one of the world's largest advertising platforms while maintaining Amazon's high standards for quality and performance.

Key job responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-powered code generation systems that integrate with the UI component library and design system
• Collaborate with Applied Scientists to translate AI/ML research into production-ready features for the UI playground environment
• Build and maintain integration points between AI tools (Amazon Q, Claude) and the UI design system to ensure generated code follows established patterns and standards
• Develop and implement validation systems to ensure AI-generated code meets our quality, accessibility, and performance requirements • Work with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to gather requirements and translate them into intuitive AI-assisted development features
• Create and maintain automated testing frameworks to ensure reliability and stability of AI code generation features

• Code Generation: Our new AI-powered assistant integrated into the UI playground that helps generate UI code and assists with rapid prototyping
• UI knowledge base structuring and maintenance to support AI-powered development
• Integration of Amazon Q and LLMs with our component library and documentation

About the team

Our team makes it easier to design and build user interfaces for advertisers across Amazon's advertising solutions. We maintain a design system that includes a component library, documentation, and now AI-assisted development capabilities. Our vision is to make it easy for builders to provide advertisers with familiar, predictable, accessible, and performant user experiences.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
