CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for an IT Network Engineer II.

Job Title: IT Network Engineer II

Location: This position will be remote, preference would be EST hours to support.

Pay Rate: $35/hour-$45/hour

Work Hours: M–F 8am–5pm

Education: 4-year degree preferred; Associate’s degree or trade certification minimum required

Description

The IT Network Engineer II will contribute to the design and deployment of automated solutions to optimize network performance and enable zero-touch deployment of standard network equipment. The goal is to eliminate manual CLI/GUI intervention and develop network analytical dashboards using SolarWinds, providing visibility into network status, device health, traffic patterns, and resource utilization.

Requirements:

  • Serve as SME for Network Analytics and Network Automation
  • Design and develop robust automated solutions for network equipment using Itential, Ansible, Python, Terraform, and APIs
  • Create centralized network dashboards using ServiceNow, SolarWinds, Splunk, etc.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve security, reliability, and automation integration
  • Identify automation use-cases based on network data and business input
  • Provide problem resolution and escalate complex issues
  • Act as technical leader, guiding other engineers
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for network infrastructure
  • Validate accuracy and reliability of automation through testing
  • Stay updated on network automation technologies

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum: Associate’s degree or trade certification

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in enterprise-level network implementation and troubleshooting
  • 4+ years in developing and using network automation at scale
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
  • Skilled in managing routers, switches, and wireless devices
  • Experience with automation/scripting for network operations
  • Proficiency with observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or Datadog
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to document system lifecycle (SLC) including runbooks and training
  • Proven ability to deliver successful projects on time and within budget
  • Effective communication and collaboration across global teams

Desired Skills

  • Experience with networking products: Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Meraki, Infoblox, Zscaler, VeloCloud SDWAN
  • Familiarity with scripting/automation tools: Python, Itential, Ansible, Terraform
  • Experience with monitoring tools: SolarWinds, NetBrain, CACTI, Wireshark
  • Understanding of network security and tools (e.g., NAC)
  • Experience with ServiceNow automation workflows
  • Certifications such as CCNA or Network+

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $35/hour to $45/hour. Salary offers are based on skills, experience, training, education, certifications, and other market factors. A competitive benefits package is also offered.
