Machine Technician - Rockford IL

1st/2nd/3rd Shift

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machine Technician to join our dynamic operations team. The role involves monitoring and explaining deviations from expected Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), performing necessary operator checklists, and collecting data on quality measurements. You will be responsible for correcting deviations from quality standards to ensure product specifications are met. The position requires effective communication with management, maintenance, and production personnel to report problems, progress, and continuous improvement ideas. Additionally, you will perform maintenance tasks, troubleshoot machine and process issues, and maintain accurate production documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and explain deviations from expected Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Perform necessary operator checklists and collect quality measurement data.
  • Correct deviations from quality standards to ensure product specifications.
  • Communicate problems, progress reports, and continuous improvement ideas to management, maintenance, and production personnel.
  • Perform maintenance tasks outlined by Maintenance Manager and respond to machine malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot machine and process issues.
  • Maintain accurate production reporting documentation.
  • Perform scheduled production equipment changeovers with minimal impact on OEE.
  • Conduct scheduled Preventative Maintenance tasks as outlined by the plant PM program.
  • Manage preventative maintenance tasks using Computerized Maintenance Management Software.
  • Ensure equipment cleanliness and optimal condition post-maintenance.
  • Evaluate equipment for improvement and tag components needing repair or replacement.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of production equipment post-changeover.

Essential Skills

  • Machine operation and inspection.
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Quality inspection and control.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and aptitude.
  • Machine setup and adjustment.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Understanding of blueprints.
  • Forklift operation.
  • Experience with blow mold machines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Active participation in plant teams focused on safety, quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Operation of Powered Industrial Trucks, Boom Lifts, and Scissor Lifts per OSHA regulations.
  • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Proper labeling and tagging of production output.

Work Environment

This position offers multiple shift options, including weekend morning, first, second, and third shifts. Initial training occurs on the first shift. The work environment is SQF certified, very clean, and employs approximately 70 people across different shifts. Employees are expected to be on call once every 11-12 days.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $45760.00/yr.
