The Kotzebue Trial Court of the Alaska Court System (ACS) is seeking a highly dependable individual to become a Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12). This is a part-time position scheduled to work 25 hours per week.
You can expect to perform a wide variety of clerical and technical functions in support of court operations. You will serve as the in-court clerk for minor offense and grand jury proceedings: prepare the courtroom for hearings, test recording equipment, and review case files for prior or pending actions. You will announce the opening and closing of court proceedings, mark and maintain exhibits and lists, record court proceedings, and prepare an accurate summary. Jury clerk duties will include prepare and distribute jury schedules, juror notices, route requests for excusal and deferral to the judicial officer, and document juror attendance.
Additional responsibilities will include: manage minor offense cases using CourtView to open, calendar, and close cases, perform records research and requests, and send and check mail at the post office once a day. You will be responsible for vital statistics duties and will assist the public in making marriage license applications and preparing marriage licenses for signature.
Providing outstanding customer service, this position will also assist customers at the front counter and over the phone, accept incoming filings, collect money and produce receipts for fines, fees, bail, etc.

The Work Hours
This position will work 25 hours per week. The actual schedule will be determined between the hiring manager and the successful applicant.

The Kotzebue Court is located in the DMVA Armory on Third Avenue. When fully staffed, the Clerk’s office includes four full-time and one part-time Court Case Managers 2. If you are the selected applicant, you will become a part of the Kotzebue Trial Court helping to fulfill the mission of the Alaska Court System.

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.
OR
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.
OR
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.

WORK HISTORY

EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications, you must fill in the Education and Training section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of credit hours earned in the Degree Obtained field. Copies of academic transcripts will be required at time of interview.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be required to meet the Minimum Qualifications as outlined above. Unfortunately, we cannot always interview all applicants. If your application is considered "not qualified," you will be sent a notice within two weeks after the closing date for this recruitment. If you believe your application was improperly disqualified, you may appeal this decision to the Human Resources Director at 820 West 4th Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99501-2005 within five workdays from the date the notice is mailed to you. Qualified applications will be forwarded to the hiring supervisor.
NEPOTISM REVIEW
