Location: Can be based in Boston, MA, Portsmouth, NH, Plano, TX, Seattle, WA or REMOTE
Duration: 6 Months
Pay Rate: Up to $50/hour (DOE)
The Planet Groups Fortune500 Insurance company is looking for a UX Researcher with 5+ years of UX or Market Research experience for a 6-month contract starting in July 2025
In this role, the UX Researcher will concentrate on integrating communications and product simplifications for our client's brands, utilizing both UX and Market Research methodologies.
UX Researcher Responsibilities:
- Plans and conducts consumer research activities (for example, usability testing, online surveys, and customer interviews) and translates findings into actionable customer insights that inform product development, marketing and optimization.
- Contributes to both the UX and Market Research processes, including objective setting, identification of customer needs, ideation, testing and continuously gathering customer feedback for all research initiatives.
- Plans and facilitates design thinking workshops and activities including problem statement creation, alignment on goals, persona development, and journey-mapping.
- Leads objective setting discussions and creates clear research roadmaps for all stakeholder teams.
- Contributes to the development of functional strategy and future direction.
- Recommends the right UX or Market Research method to employ for the hypothesis or business problem at hand in order to deliver relevant and actionable learnings (for example, usability testing, online surveys, interviews, contextual inquiry, focus groups).
- Contributes to expert reviews and heuristic evaluations to identify opportunities within the user interface to improve usability and/or accessibility according to industry standards and best practices.
- Communicates clear, concise, and objective research findings that focus on actionable insights.
- Works collaboratively, seeking constructive feedback and integrating feedback to improve research expertise.
UX Researcher Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of related UX or Market Research experience or Master’s degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Design, Marketing/Market Research or related field with 3 years of UX or Market Research related experience.
- Expertise in a variety of qualitative research methods, including running usability studies, facilitating customer focus groups and interviews, and writing expert (heuristic) reviews.
- Skilled in quantitative research methods, including online surveys, complex data analysis, and writing detailed reports with actionable insights.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research tools, such as Qualtrics and UserZoom.
- Familiarity with methodologies such as Design Thinking and Lean UX.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills. Ability to present projects and status reports to cross-functional leadership.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills.
- Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Design, Marketing/Market Research or Master’s degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Design, Marketing/Market Research.
