By joining the Division of Information Systems Information Technology Branch/Operations Section as a Systems Administrator Senior in Franklin County, you will have the chance to work closely with a knowledgeable team to learn to support agency software database applications that are integral in EEC's mission of protecting the environment.

This Systems Administrator Senior position offers a rewarding and exciting opportunity to work with a group of dedicated IT professionals who provide mission critical services to the citizens of the Commonwealth on a daily basis.

Responsibilities and job duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Will develop expertise in supporting, upgrading, and optimizing TEMPO and other EEC applications to enhance system performance and ensure operational excellence
  • Develop and, or, modify complex queries and create database objects in the support of EEC Applications.
  • Work with the Department for Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Environmental Protect Agency (EPA) in flowing data including scripting system improvements.
  • Work as a team to support TEMPO and the applications that flow data to and from the database application, including eForms, which are smart web-based forms.
  • Serve as Tier I and Tier II support for the EEC Helpdesk for all Cabinet applications handled by Operations section.
  • Work closely with IT staff, agencies and the Environmental Project Agency (EPA) in flowing data to and from EEC/EPA.

Preferred skills and knowledge may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Experience in Oracle PL/SQL, creating database objects and complex reports.
  • Experience in application development, systems analysis, and system support.
  • Ability to understand complex business processes, gather requirements, work efficiently and verify results.
  • Experience in managing projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

This position has an approved Locality Premium of 29% in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High School graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in IT systems administration, IT systems support, or IT systems analysis

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education in computer science, IT, or a related field will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in IT systems administration, IT systems support, or IT systems analysis will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis OR a certification in an IT-related field will substitute for the required education.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
