Position Summary, Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for ensuring all sanitation and cleaning procedures meet regulatory and company standards to maintain a safe and hygienic food manufacturing environment. This role supports both the Quality Assurance and Sanitation teams by verifying that all equipment, utensils, and production areas are properly cleaned and sanitized prior to the start of operations. The technician performs routine inspections, maintains documentation, and communicates findings to help ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, FDA, and internal food safety protocols.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of sanitation requirements in food processing environments, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Job Requirements Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  • Verify proper cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, tools, and production areas prior to startup.
  • Conduct routine sanitation inspections and swab testing as required.
  • Monitor and enforce GMP and food safety compliance during and after sanitation activities.
  • Document and report sanitation findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and training of sanitation procedures and protocols.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to sanitation or food safety concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with sanitation, QA, and production teams to ensure seamless transitions between sanitation and production.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of sanitation verification and validations.
  • Participate in internal audits and support third-party inspections as needed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear the required PPE.

Qualifications

  • You must be able to work Saturdays at 24-hour notice.
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional training in food safety or sanitation preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in food manufacturing or sanitation (QA experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • Strong observational and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

  • Must be able to move equipment weighing more than 50 lbs. with team assistance.
  • Must be able to tolerate working in humid, cool, hot, or wet environments for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work overnight or on off-shifts as required by operational needs.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. independently.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; and communicate effectively. The position requires standing for 8–10 hours per day, excluding designated breaks. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.

NOTE: This role will require extended hours based on production needs, including work to be performed after regular business hours and on weekends.
