THE ROLE & THE TEAM

The Zalando Design System (ZDS) design team enables Zalando teams to create consistent customer experiences across customer journeys. We aim to make our digital products the best possible expression of our brand, and continually raise the quality bar of our user interfaces. The next stage of our evolution takes the design system beyond consistency to journeys that are coherent and configurable. You will be part of a team that ensures design quality across all facets of UI, illustration, motion, etc.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Create a unified, cohesive set of UX and visual guidelines for Zalando’s mobile & web fashion store
• Plan strategically as a partner with engineering, product and brand to define the future of design systems at Zalando
• Create high-quality mocks and interactive prototypes to communicate your work. Use user research and data to inform your reasonings
• Represent ZDS by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally. Be able to precisely articulate design rationale and goals
• Be a key contributor in creating consistent customer experiences across our customer journeys
• Contribute to the Zalando Product Design community by sharing best practices, mentoring and teaching colleagues, crafting best-in-class solutions, bar-raising in design reviews, and sparking inspiring conversations

WE'D LIKE TO MEET YOU IF...

• You have experience with mature design systems. Experience with design tokens or theming is a plus
• You have fostered partnerships and supported broader product teams in applying the system around individual product constraints.
• You are a strong cross-functional partner having worked closely with engineers, a great communicator, and above all, you approach problems holistically as a unified system.
• You are able to precisely articulate design rationale and present to diverse stakeholders from all across the company.
• You have a solid range of design skills in your ever growing toolkit – including user research, workshop facilitation, UX and UI design – to ensure fluid and holistic customer journeys.
• Accessibility design experience is a plus
