Now Hiring: Staff Mechanical Estimator – Drive Industrial Projects with Precision and Impact

Locations (On-Site Only): Appleton, WI • Kansas City, MO • Chesterfield, MO

Pay: $36–$42/hour | 1st Shift | Monday–Friday

About the Role

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an experienced Staff Mechanical Estimator to support complex industrial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering accurate mechanical estimates that shape successful project bids, planning, and execution. You’ll work closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality, data-driven cost proposals that directly impact operational performance and client success.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive mechanical estimates including lump sum bids, unit costs, and proposals for field and pre-fabrication construction projects.
• Collaborate with procurement, vendors, and subcontractors to gather pricing, assess scopes, and address estimate-related concerns.
• Analyze historical project data and trends to enhance future estimating accuracy and efficiency.
• Review project documents to identify risks, overlaps, and scope gaps; propose mitigation strategies.
• Assist with small business and subcontractor solicitations, pre-qualifications, and evaluations.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and present estimation strategies to stakeholders.
• Assemble labor and material pricing, conduct market studies, and evaluate subcontractor quotes.
• Support project schedule development and assess indirect, general conditions, escalation, and contingency costs.
• Ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and aligned with company methodology and client expectations.

Required Qualifications

• Mechanical estimating experience in an industrial setting is required. (Residential or commercial-only experience will not be considered.)
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Minimum 3 years of direct experience preparing mechanical project estimates.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel: pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data modeling, and advanced formulas.
• Familiarity with mechanical estimating tools and platforms including:
  • Bluebeam Revu (Extreme)
  • Navisworks Freedom
  • SharePoint, Teams, OneNote
  • Power BI
  • InEight
  • Accubid Anywhere

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of Quotesoft, Oracle, and additional project controls or estimating software.
• Familiarity with cost control systems and standard industry estimating practices.

Pay Details: $36.00 to $42.00 per hour
