Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Industrial Mechanical Systems and Equipment: Knowledge and skill in independent troubleshooting, aligning, adjusting, servicing and repairing large industrial equipment and systems. Knowledge of equipment and tools of this trade. The ability to effectively always respond to emergency maintenance and repair problems and change priorities as needed. The ability to determine the most cost-effective procedures, parts and tools to detect problems and complete repairs. Removing, disassembling cleaning, lubricating, repairing, reassembling and reinstalling components and component parts such as pumps motors, controllers, compressors, burners, condensers, ruptured disks, valves, backflow preventers, safety and automatic valves, pistons and bearings.
HVAC: Disassembles, repairs, replaces, or adjusts thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, electronic controls, and other devices. Replaces or repairs thermostats, governors, switches, cut off apparatus, burners, and fuel feed flame guard controls. Ball bearing, drive gears, gaskets, damaged parts, and shop machines. Observes all safety rules and regulations. Identifies and recognizes the problems affecting equipment, and makes repairs to systems that provide filtering, or circulating of air for facilities and equipment. Perform basic service to unit cleaning condensers, furnaces and changing filters and belts. Clean and inspect unit heaters checking for cracked heat exchangers and fan brackets.
Plumbing: Rebuilds circulating pumps, and traps for heating systems. Repairs, replaces and maintains all utility lines above and below grade to include all air, gas, water, storm, and sanitary sewer lines. Recognize and correct pumping equipment misalignments. Has completed training in testing and repairing backflow devices. Has obtained state certification to test and repair backflow devices. This certification must be maintained by getting re-certified every 3 years. Must be able to document and maintain backflow test documents in an organized manner. All backflows must be tested at least once a year by law. Installs, maintains, plans and selects all necessary materials to make the repairs on all water, air, gas, hydraulic, and sewer systems. Repairs, replaces and installs restroom fixtures and other related building equipment such as drinking fountains, & sump pumps. Completes other plumbing duties as required by supervisor. Lubricates and repacks valves, lubricates pumps, replaces gaskets and seals, cleans and replaces strainers and filters. The types of piping used are cast iron, steel, copper, and plastic. Cuts, measures, reams and threads pipe and sweat fittings. All must be planned so that they will not disturb daily operations. Plans, installs, tests, maintains, and keeps records on back flow devices.
Preventative Maintenance: Can receive PM service work orders and execute them without additional help from others. Performs preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with applicable technical data and local procedures. To maintain optimal life expectancy of all equipment, systems and individual components. This involves lubricating and repacking valves lubricating pumps, replacing gaskets and seals, correcting pumping equipment misalignments, cleaning or replacing strainers and filters servicing water/oil separators and other Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE), bench checking repairable components and sub-assemblies, testing and calibrating repaired items to ensure adequacy and reliability of repair actions, aligning pulleys, and adjusting drive belts on belt driven equipment. This requires using the following test equipment, standards, and other equipment required by applicable technical data, hand and power tools such as jackhammers, torque wrenches, meters, gear pullers, bench grinders, and hydraulic presses; pipe threading machines; cutting and welding torches, welding outfits; wrenches; micrometers; caliper; power drills; vacuum pumps; portable trash pumps; powered and non-powered saws; drills; taps and punches with drills; drill presses and hand punches.
Electrical: Reads and understands electrical schematics. Uses the NEC code book to research proper installation of electrical devices and is competent in locating pertinent information in NEC code book. Can bend and install EMT conduit, install different types of electrical raceways. Able to remove and install electrical circuit breakers in electric panel boxes. Understand how to properly size wire, conduit and breakers in electrical circuits. Installs cord ends and receptacles or welders both single and three phase. Can use multi meter to trouble shoot and repair equipment both single and three phase. Understands and uses NFPA 70E arc flash safety equipment when required and NO hot work. Can communicate concisely and clearly the 12 points of the jobsite safety briefing for jobs involving energized parts when requested. Performs minor electrical repairs, understands basic electrical processes and electrical safety, must be able to safely work up to 480-volt circuits and equipment.
Miscellaneous Repairs: Has taken training in the repair and testing of the overhead fire drop doors. Can competently test and document overhead fire doors test, fill out test reports and maintain test report data base. All overhead fired doors must be inspected and tested at least once every year by a competent tester. This is an NFPA requirement. Must complete training and demonstrate the ability to inspect and repair overhead cranes at facilities, this is a monthly requirement to have cranes inspected and technicians must be trained to do the inspection. Inspects, Maintains, Repairs, and Installs structural and mechanical components of roll-up doors and overhead hoist: to include rollers, guides, pulleys, stops, cables, clamps, limit switches, etc. Install, repairs, replaces, and adjusts building hardware. Require: ability to identify mechanical or parts defects and successfully make cost effective repairs.
Related Task: Determines dimension, size, quantity, quality, grade, part/model number, cost, source of supply, and availability of parts / Materials required. Maintains all tools of trade both hand and power. Repairing and replacing tools in appropriate storage area. When not in use. Upon approval, arranges for appropriate skill craft person to make major repairs as needed. This requires good judgment on determining cost effective methods, supplies, parts and any additional trades personnel required for each job order; the ability to secure account and maintain a variety of tools and equipment; and the ability to maintain good working relationships with others.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned by supervisor and AOR. Performs other duties and responsibilities that meet the organizational need of the office and support the mission of the Kansas Army National Guard Adjutant General's Department may be required to return to work or work additional hours on occasion to include weekend in the event of units training at Salina KSTC and or inclement weather and to operate snow equipment. Will be required to provide stand-by duty for maintenance repairs after hours.
Lock Repair:
Duties include. lock repairs working on doors locks to repair. and install a new combination of new cores, locks and keys. Vault combination changes and repair.
Will repair locks and vaults. throughout Kansas at Adjutant General Facilities with secret and top-secret securities. Must maintain vault certificates to maintain $1.00 per hour lock & vault pay
