This position will be responsible for configuration, installation, and monitoring of security tools and appliances. The position provides security support for application and infrastructure-related projects; assisting in security audits; running security analysis and risk reports. The incumbent monitors security devices and maintains all log-in identifications and data access files.
Serve as lead administrator on antivirus, data encryption, and pertinent security software and security appliances. Recommend hardware and software systems that provide security functions. Implement approved changes, providing documentation of all information data access and maintaining all log-in identifications and data access files.
Monitor security devices, network access, and data access control. Assist in responses to security threats and risks; troubleshoot and implement approved rules and connections for security devices. Implements and maintains central logging. Document and submit all proposed changes to supervisor with a detailed recommendation for implementation.
Assist in any Disaster Recovery activities, table top exercises, and security audits. This includes assistance with documentation and reporting. Assists with completion and gathering of incident reports.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Job tasks performed by this employee which are not expected in advance and covered above, or not “Information Technology” tasks or processes
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and two years experience providing security and disaster recovery for information technology systems or four years experience providing security and disaster recovery for information technology systems. Additional experience in the areas listed above may be substituted for the required education as determined relevant by the agency.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offences (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.
Local security clearance required, candidate must pass a background investigation.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college or university
Four (4) years of IT work experience to include two (2) years of work experience providing security and disaster recovery for information technology systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Along with degree, two (2) years’ experience in network, server OS, and application hardening against security risks and threats.
Two years’ experience with Checkpoint and Cisco security devices.
Knowledge of security issues and techniques across all existing computer platforms, security products, tools and processes, and maintaining applicable federal, state and local law regulations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred certifications: CISSP, CCNA security, and CCSA.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must pass a criminal history records check.
